Pro wrestling star Joe Doering dead at 44 after brain cancer battle

Joe Doering, a pro wrestling star who competed at All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), has died, the companies said Friday. He was 44.

AJPW and TNA each put out statements on Doering’s death.

"Joe Doering, who had been battling a brain tumor, passed away at the age of 44," All Japan Pro Wrestling said. "Upon learning of Joe Doring's passing, all players and staff of All Japan Pro Wrestling express their condolences and sincerely pray for his eternal peace."

TNA added, "We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Joe Doering. A commanding in-ring performer and a wonderful person, he will never be forgotten. We offer our deepest condolences to his fans, his friends and his family."

The pro wrestling community also mourned Doering’s death on social media.

Doering was battling brain cancer which he had been battling for a while. He entered hospice care earlier in the week.

Doering started his pro wrestling journey in 2004 when he made his debut for Border City Wrestling. He moved through promotions, making appearances in AJPW in 2007 and TNA in 2005. He also had a stint in WWE's developmental program, Florida Championship Wrestling, in 2010. He never debuted on the WWE’s main roster.
