Prince William and Kate Middleton share rare video message from home

The Prince and Princess of Wales have appeared in a rare video message from home, hailing Team GB as an "inspiration to us all".

Released this evening on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Royal couple took a moment to speak to the nation following the wrap-up of the Olympic Games 2024.

The video kicked off with an intro from US rapper legend Snoop Dogg, who has made quite a name for himself at this year's competition with his outfits and general enthusiasm.

It then cuts to a cosy shot of Princess Kate on the left, with Prince William on her right. The Princess beams, saying: "From all of us watching at home, congratulations to Team GB." Prince William chimes in with his own praise, remarking: "Well done on all you've achieved."

It's a rare appearance from Princess Kate, who was greeted with a standing ovation as she attended Wimbledon last month in her second public engagement since announcing her cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

The Princess of Wales, patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, presented the trophy to the winner of the clash between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz on July 14.

She arrived at the tennis tournament in SW19 less than an hour before the final was due to begin and met players including Emma Raducanu.

Kate and Princess Charlotte were greeted with cheers and applause as they took their seats in the front row of the royal box at Centre Court.

The Princess of Wales smiled broadly and waved to the crowd as the pair sat down beside her sister Pippa Matthews.

Kate has been undergoing chemotherapy and made her first public appearance since announcing her cancer diagnosis in March at the Trooping the Colour ceremony in London.
