Premiership punters to smash SPFL attendance record as Neil Doncaster 'hugely encouraged' by crowd numbers

The Scottish Premiership is set to break an attendance record tonight by achieving the highest crowd figures for a top flight season in the SPFL’s history.

More than three and a half million supporters have attended matches in the top flight this term and only 9,458 more need to attend this evening’s six games to move past the the 3,639,331 who attended in the 2018/19 season. 100,829 is the number for average attendance per matchday this season.

SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster said: “It is great to see that our clubs in the cinch Premiership are on course to set a new SPFL attendance record. It’s hugely encouraging to see our crowds continue to go from strength to strength, given the importance of gate money to our game north of the border. Supporters attending our games help create the unique atmosphere that make our matches so compelling, and I hope they’re looking forward to the many important games across the division tonight.”

It's set to be a dramatic night of action in the top flight. Aberdeen could wrap up third place while at the other end, Dundee United could be relegated if Ross County beat St Johnstone and they fail to win against Kilmarnock.
