Premier Sports Cup: Seedings and club numbers confirmed ahead of group stage draw
The SPFL has confirmed the seeding pots ahead of tomorrow's Premier Sports Cup group stage draw, as holders Rangers seek to defend the silverware in 2024/25.
The draw will take place at 1pm tomorrow and will be shown live on the Premier Sports YouTube channel, the Premier Sports X/Twitter page and the SPFL YouTube channel as fans find out the first set of fixtures for the new season.
There is no regionalisation for the group stage draw and the 40 clubs involved will be split into five pots based on their final league positions last season. Due to the top five Premiership from last terms competing in UEFA competitions, the 37 remaining SPFL clubs will be joined by Lowland League champions East Kilbride as well as the top two from last season's Highland League, Buckie Thistle and Brechin City.
One club from each pot will be drawn into the eight Groups A-H and the eight group winners and three best runners-up will join European entrants Celtic, Rangers, Heart of Midlothian, Kilmarnock and St Mirren in the last 16.
Each club taking part will pocket at least £30,000 while the eventual winners will pick up £400,000 in prize money.
