Premier League rules could help Manchester United land ideal summer signing

It's impossible to ignore the financial side of things in football right now.

Manchester United were unable to do the business they would have liked last month due to Financial Fair Play restrictions, while the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules are now a very real threat as well.

Yet, while those financial concerns restricted the business done last month, they could well help a team like United when it comes to the summer transfer window.

Everton and Nottingham Forest have both been charged with breaching those Premier League rules, and similar punishment is a very real threat for a number of different sides ahead of the summer.

Wolves are one of those who won't be taking any chances. Last summer, they sold a number of key players and parted ways with head coach Julen Lopetegui as they looked to conform to the three-year £105 million loss limit.

They might well need to cash-in on another prize asset at the end of the season, and Pedro Neto could well be the most sensible sale for a club looking to bring money in.

United have already experienced firsthand what Neto can do from the right flank when his dramatic equaliser looked to have rescued a point for his side in their 4-3 defeat earlier this month.

He grabbed a brilliant assist to set up the Wolves winner at Tottenham on Saturday, another performance in a big game after his stellar showing in their away win at Chelsea two weeks earlier.

Neto is level with Mohamed Salah for Premier League assists this season, with the pair only behind Kieran Trippier and Ollie Watkins in terms of creating goals so far this campaign.
