Premier League have handed Liverpool FC a hidden title race advantage over Man City

Manchester City have an extra reason to hope Arsenal beat Liverpool on Wednesday after the Premier League released their latest TV fixtures this week.

City learned their fixtures against Wolves and Leeds have been selected for live TV coverage, as would be expected from one of the two title contenders, while the home clash with Brighton has been rescheduled after being postponed due to the Blues' FA Cup quarter-final involvement.

City now know when six of their last nine fixtures will take place - and crucially, they also know when Liverpool will play.

However, the latest TV picks follow a pattern that sees Liverpool play before City four times in the next six games. Only once do City have the chance to play first in a gameweek compared to Liverpool, with the reality now set to see both sides leapfrogging each other in the next six weeks.

Liverpool play their game in hand at Arsenal on Wednesday night, with three points able to take them to within a point of City. Even a draw would put them three points behind with a better goal difference.

Then, after the international break, Liverpool can go top if they beat Watford in the early kick-off on Saturday, April 4, or if they take four points against the Hornets and Arsenal. City can return to the top against Burnley in the 3pm kick-off that day.

After that, both sides face each other on April 10 at the Etihad. Assuming they both win their fixtures before that, City and Liverpool both know that victory will take them top of the league in a game that could define the title race.
