Practice session opens round 2 of Saudi Toyota Championship Hill Climb
TAIF: Round two of the 2026 Saudi Toyota Championship Hill Climb got underway on Friday at Aqabat Al-Muhammadiyah in Al-Shafa, Taif, with 54 competitors taking part in the opening day of action.
Organized by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, and managed by Bakhashab Motorsport in partnership with Jameel Motorsport, the championship saw 46 drivers pass technical inspection ahead of competition across 10 classes, in addition to the Ladies Cup.
The day’s program began with administrative checks and technical scrutineering to ensure vehicles met safety and technical regulations, followed by a drivers’ briefing attended by officials and organizing teams to review the competition rules.
Official practice started in the afternoon, giving competitors the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the 4.2-km mountain course and fine-tune their cars before the opening heat began. The remainder of heat one will be completed on Saturday.
Faisal Soufyan Al-Kabbani set the fastest time of the day, posting a run of one minute, 47.832 seconds in Class 1. Rabih Moayad Al-Awar was second overall with a time of 1:48.544 in Class 2A, while Mahmoud Ahmed Abed completed the top three in Class 3A with 1:51.907.
Ahmed Abdul Al-Gaidy finished fourth overall in Class 2A with 1:54.014, ahead of fellow Class 1 competitor Mustafa Nabeel Al-Atari, who clocked 1:54.772. Abdullah Ahmed Al-Amri was sixth in the Category 2 SS class with 1:55.972, followed by Abdullah Abdulaziz Khojah in Class 3A in 1:56.972.
Sultan Hamdi placed eighth overall with a time of 1:59.671 in Class 3A, while Riyad Batal finished ninth in Class 2B with 2:01.307. Abdulaziz Maged Al-Fudhili rounded out the top 10 with a time of 2:01.565 in Class 4A.
