Power shoots 68 to keep pace with RSM Classic leaders

A second-round 68 kept Seamus Power very much in the hunt at the RSM Classic in Georgia, four shots behind the midway pace setters who sit on 12-under-par.

Harry Higgs, Andrew Putnam and Cole Hammer are tied atop the leaderboard, with a one-stroke advantage over Sahith Theegala, Joel Dahmen and Beau Hossler.

Power was unable to match his opening-round 66 on the par-70 Seaside course at the Sea Island Resort, but a three-under-par round at the par-72 Plantation Course sees the Waterford man in a tie for 15th.

The third and fourth rounds will be staged at the Seaside Course.

FULL LEADERBOARD

Starting his round on the back nine, Power opened with a birdie. Indeed the 35-year-old moved briefly to the top of the leaderboard when he was -4 through seven holes, before dropping a shot the 350-yard par-four 17th.

The man leading the FedEx Cup standings picked up further shots at the second and eighth, but disappointingly closed with a bogey to sign off for 68.

Higgs rolled in seven birdies at the Seaside Course to tie for the low round of the day. His first two birdies came from 23 and 27 feet away at the second and sixth holes.

"Again, 33 of 36 [greens in regulation through two days], the way that I'm putting, I just have to get it somewhere on the green and it's probably going to come close to going in the hole," Higgs said.

"Hopefully close to going in the hole or in the hole with good speed so we don't have to stress with wind."

Higgs has finished second in two PGA Tour events to date - one in 2019, one in 2020 - but has yet to claim a victory.
