Potential AFC Bournemouth advantage emerges in possible pursuit of Liverpool transfer agreement

Championship club AFC Bournemouth have a good relationship with Premier League side Liverpool and their outgoing sporting director Michael Edwards, according to Dorset Live.

Their relationship stretches back quite a while, with the Cherries’ top goalscorer Dominic Solanke arriving from the Reds back in January 2019 for a £19m fee and although it looked as though Jurgen Klopp’s side had negotiated a superb deal with the forward initially struggling at the Vitality Stadium, he has been a real asset since their return to the Championship.

His 29 league goals during the 2021/22 campaign were integral in securing Scott Parker’s side’s promotion back to the Premier League at the second time of asking – and loanee Nat Phillips has also played a big part in retaining a top-two spot since his arrival from Anfield in January.

Despite being in competition with the likes of Gary Cahill and Chris Mepham for a starting spot, Phillips has been one of the first names on the teamsheet for the south-coast side during the second half of this term.

And with the Welshman progressing well at the Vitality, that relationship between the Cherries and the Reds has only been strengthened further, something that could be crucial for the long-term with the latter’s sporting director Edwards set to depart Anfield.

As per Dorset Live, the two sides still have a clear line of communication which could help in their potential quest to recruit Phillips on a permanent basis, although another loan deal is a ‘live option’.
