Porto 4-0 Cardiff City: Bluebirds finish Portugal trip with defeat as Aaron Ramsey makes debut

Cardiff City ended their Portugal tour with a 4-0 defeat against Champions League outfit Porto as Aaron Ramsey made his third debut for his boyhood club.

Toni Martinez did the damage in the first half, scoring twice, while a Mehdi Taremi penalty and a late Fran Navarro strike was enough for the Portuguese side to take the win by a comfortable margin.

City had their moments, though, Ramsey hit the post with almost his first touch and Kieron Evans also hit the upright, too.

Considering they were playing against a Champions League team, it's not untrue to say that Cardiff were by far the livelier of the two sides at the beginning of the match, with Sheyi Ojo and Karlan Grant getting the better of the Porto full-backs.

Grant and Ojo fired off a number of shots on goal, but to no avail. It's why it came as such a shock when Porto scored with literally their first chance of the game.

A cheeky reverse pass from Mehdi Taremi took out Mark McGuinness and Dimitrios Goutas slid in to stop Martinez's shot. However, in blocking the shot the ball simply dribbled back out to Martinez and he could tap home for the easiest of finishes.

It was a setback, but City were not deterred. They hit straight back at Porto and had them on the ropes on more than one occasion.

One sublime pass from Ryan Wintle found Ojo on the edge of the box and he neatly rounded the keeper before trying to slot home - but his shot was cleared off the line.

Ojo clearly had the bit between his teeth because minutes later he cut inside and sent a shot flying towards the far corner, forcing Diogo Costa into an incredible save.
