Popular former Gillingham striker Danny Kedwell reunites with Andy Drury as part of Isthmian Premier club Folkestone Invicta’s coaching staff following departure as Ashford United boss

Popular former Gillingham striker Danny Kedwell has landed a new role following his departure as Ashford United manager.

Kedwell, 41, reunites with Folkestone boss Andy Drury at Cheriton Road, a little over a week after his eight-month Homelands stay came to an end.

He has joined the Isthmian Premier club’s coaching staff where he will work alongside Drury and Invicta No.2 Ben Harding.

Drury and Kedwell are close friends. They worked together at Cray Wanderers when Kedwell was in charge, prior to his dismissal in December 2021.

“I’m delighted that Danny has agreed to join us,” Drury told the club website on Wednesday night. “Having a good backroom set-up around the manager is important, and me and Keds get on well.

“His experience will be important for us as we look to push on in the business end of the season.

“He’s also played a number of games this season with Ashford so fans may see him involved on the pitch at some stage if we need him.”

Kedwell had played for a number of different clubs across Kent - most notably Gillingham and Ebbsfleet, as well as AFC Wimbledon from 2008 until 2011 - before he headed into management.

Play-off chasing Folkestone are at struggling Hendon on Saturday before they return to home action against Chichester seven days later.
