Gillingham team news ahead of League 2 match against Notts County with injury updates on Chelsea’s Jimmy-Jay Morgan, Elliott Nevitt and Ethan Coleman
Gillingham manager John Coleman hopes to have at least one of his injured strikers back this weekend.
Coleman has had to deal with minor injuries to two of his new signings while striker Elliott Nevitt, who started the new manager’s first two games, also picked up a knock.
Nevitt and fellow forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan – on loan from Chelsea - both missed the trip to Grimsby in midweek as Crystal Palace’s attacking loanee Asher Agbinone returned from a back injury.
“I think we'll have Jimmy Morgan back,” declared the Gills boss on Thursday.
“I don't know whether we'll have Nev back.
“I don't know whether we'll have Ethan Coleman back. Aaron Rowe was ill. He's over that.”
Nevitt was described as having an “impact injury” with bruising to both feet.
Coleman said: “He's hoping to be available on Saturday. I don't know whether he will be.”
Ethan Coleman picked up a hamstring strain in training on the Friday before they played at Tranmere and missed the game at Grimsby.
“It had tightened up on the coach,” explained the manager.
“With that type of injury, you don't want to make it worse. We'll see how it settles down.”
Defender Conor Masterson is still some weeks away from being fit. Marcus Wyllie and Josh Andrews are both out injured.
The manager’s had a number of players who haven’t made the matchday squads of late including Euan Williams and Peterborough loan striker Jacob Wakeling.
Coleman got to see some of those in action on Thursday afternoon.
He said: “We had a fruitful game with the lads who hadn't been playing much against the youth team, which was good.
“It was good for me to get proper eyes on the youth team as well. Joe (Dunne) and Bryan (Bull) do a great job with them.”
