Popular chop house confirms Manchester opening date and massive opening discount for diners

A London chop house has revealed the opening date of its first site outside the capital. Blacklock, which specialises in chops and steak which are cooked over charcoal, will open on Peter Street in Manchester city centre.

It officially launches on Friday, 27 September, but the week before, the restaurant will hold a 'soft launch' offering a 50% discount to diners.

Blacklock first launched in Soho in London in 2015, expanding to five sites in the capital, including its latest at Canary Wharf, which opened last year. The concept was founded by ex-lawyer Gordon Kerr, who says the new Manchester site is the 'perfect' place for their first Northern venture.

The restaurant will take the lower ground space of Harvester House, a Grade II-listed building which dates back to the Victorian era and was formerly home to a textile merchant.

Restored to reveal original features including Accrington brickwork and the striking factory-beamed ceiling, Blacklock Manchester will feature a 115-seat restaurant including booths for groups of up to eight guests as well as a 25-seat cocktail-bar.

Speaking about the Manchester site previously, Gordon Kerr said: “It’s long been a dream of mine and the team to open Blacklock in Manchester, given its vibrant and bustling culture and brilliant food scene. It’s so important for us to be in buildings with character and history, and this part of Manchester has that in spades.
