Poor funding may scuttle Curling Federation’s dreams at 2024 Winter Games

Chairman of Nigeria Curling Sports Federation, Ademola Damilola, has urged the Ministry of Sports to intervene and support his team’s quest to feature at the 2024 Winter Games billed for Guangdong, South Korea from January 19 to February 1.

Damilola said with less than 90 days to the Winter Games, the Federation is yet to get funds to take the curling team to the games.

Damilola’s pleads are coming a few days after Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) President, Habu Gumel,begged the Sports Ministry and corporate bodies to helpTeam Nigeria’s bid forsuccess in the 2024 Africa Games, Olympic Games and Winter Games.

Earlier, at a recent sports stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, Brig-Gen Oyelade Akinniyi of the Nigeria Boxing Federation had also urged the ministry to refund the money the federation spent on the qualifiers that gave the country three slots in the boxing event of Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
