Police tape off street outside house with forensic officers amid fire investigation
A police investigation is underway following a fire at a house in Stockport.
Officers have cordoned off part of Wilmslow Road, in Heald Green, this morning (May 7) following an incident in the early hours.
Detectives are in attendance at the scene, where a house can be seen to have suffered smoke damage at the front door.
Greater Manchester Police says no one was in the property at the time of the incident.
The force is yet to confirm whether the fire is being treated as arson. Enquiries are ongoing.
A GMP spokesperson said: "Shortly before 1am on Wednesday, May 7 2025, we were called to reports of a fire at an address on Wilmslow Road, Cheadle.
"Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished. No one was in the property and there are no injuries to report. Enquiries are ongoing."
A GMFRS spokesperson added: "At 12.40am on Wednesday (May 7) three fire engines from Wythenshawe and Cheadle fire stations attended a fire at a detached house on Wilmslow Road, Heald Green.
"The fire involved the door of the home and firefighters used hose reels to extinguish the fire. Crews were in attendance for around one-and-a-half hours."
