Police seal off street in Salford after reports of 'stabbing'

A street in Salford is sealed off with police on the scene after a 39-year-old man was stabbed. Greater Manchester Police say they were called to reports of a stabbing at Oakhill Court on Mandley Park Avenue around 5pm this afternoon (February 15).

The 39-year-old was treated at the scene and has been taken to hospital where his condition is currently unknown, police say. No arrests have been made and an investigation has been launched.

A Section 60 order has now been put in place for a large area of Salford due to what police describe as a 'number of serious incidents' in recent weeks. The section 60 allows officers in the prescribed area to stop and search individuals.

The order will initially run until 5pm tomorrow (February 16) and is bounded by Cheetham Hill Road, Bury New Road, Bury Old Road and Upper Park Road.

Residents have reported a large police presence where the incident took place with forensic officers present. GMP say extra officers will be on patrol in the area while investigations continue. Witnesses are being urged to come forward and contact police with any information.

Inspector Steve Corless, of GMP's Salford district, said: “We have authorised stop-and-search powers in response to a number of serious incidents in recent weeks. I would urge members of the public that saw anything suspicious or witnessed the incident to please come forward and report this information to us immediately.

“Your information no matter how small it may seem could be a huge help in our investigation."

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police on 061 856 5049 quoting log 2564-15/2/2023. Information
