Police release image of man they want to speak to after Metrolink staff threatened

Police have released an image of a man they want speak in connection with an investigation into incident at a Metrolink station in Gorton earlier this year.

Officers were called to the Central Park tram stop at midday on June 16, 2023 following reports of an incident of threatening behaviour towards Metrolink staff.

Greater Manchester Police said they have followed up a number of lines of enquiries and are now in a position where they can appeal for the public’s assistance regarding the incident.

Cops said they would like to speak to the man in the photo as they believe he may be able to assist them with their investigation. Any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time have also been asked to get in touch with GMP.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “GMP’s Transport Unit are appealing for the public’s help for information following an incident at Central Park Metrolink station, Gorton.

“Officers were called at midday 16th June 2023 to an incident of threatening behaviour towards Metrolink staff.

“Officers have followed up on a number of lines of enquiry and are now in a position to appeal for the public’s assistance and they would like to speak with the man captured in the image below as he may be able to assist with enquiries and are also appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time or who may have witnessed the incident.”
