Police release CCTV of man they want to speak to after attempted robbery at Oldham shoe shop

CCTV images have been released of a man who police would like to speak to following an attempted robbery in Oldham.

Police were called to the Wynsors World of Shoes store on Ashton Road at around 4pm on Tuesday (March 1) following reports of an attempted robbery.

Enquiries established that a man entered the store before demanding money from the till.

He threatened staff and claimed to be in possession of a knife and gun.

The man then left the store without any money.

He is thought to have then fled down Ashton Road in the direction of Copter Hill Road.

Police said enquiries are ongoing and are encouraging anyone with information to get in touch.

DC Berry, of GMP's Oldham district, said: "Thankfully, no one was harmed during this incident but it was an incredibly traumatic experience for the shop staff.

"No weapon was ever seen or produced by the offender and he left without money from the store but we're still treating this with the utmost seriousness and we want to ensure the man responsible is identified and faces justice.

"We're releasing CCTV images of a man that we would like to speak to in connection with this incident and I would encourage anyone who thinks they may recognise him to get in touch with police as soon as you're able to.

“We're also keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the store at the time or were within the vicinity at the time and may have seen him."

Anyone with information that could assist detectives in identifying this man should contact police on 0161 856 8915 or 0161 856 9078 quoting incident 1961 of 01/03/22.
