Police make arrest after man stabbed in street brawl involving 'Rambo-style hunting knife'

Police have made an arrest after a street brawl involving a 'Rambo-style hunting knife' in Bolton. Officers were called to the disturbance, between a group of men on Booth Road, Little Lever, at around 1pm on Sunday (February 12).

Witnesses reported seeing two men in possession of knives and fighting with an unknown number of other men. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man in his 20s had sustained life-threatening injuries after being stabbed and was rushed to hospital from the scene.

In an update, police have confirmed that one man, aged 24, has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is in custody for questioning. Investigations are still ongoing currently, with police believing it was a 'targeted' incident.

Police erected three cordons, two in Little Lever and one in Radcliffe. The car park of a nearby pub was cordoned off whilst a vehicle was processed by forensics as well as on Kirkstall Gardens, Radcliffe, where a man was detained.

An increase in officer presence is expected in the locality over the coming days in response to the incident, with any potential witnesses urged to come forward.

DCI Dean Purtill said: "This is still very much an ongoing investigation in its very early stages but we are confident that this is a targeted incident and the wider community are not at risk.

"However, we are going to be increasing patrols in the area over the next few days, who will be there to support the community as the investigation continues.
