Manchester United ace Casemiro makes Arsenal and Man City admission after Carabao Cup win

Midfield enforcer Casemiro admits that Manchester United still have work to do to bridge the gap on Arsenal and Manchester City.

The Brazilian international, who joined the club from Real Madrid last August, made the admission after producing another outstanding display and scoring in Sunday's 2-0 Carabao Cup final triumph over Newcastle United at Wembley. He opened the scoring with a 33rd-minute header, connecting with a Luke Shaw free-kick, ahead of Marcus Rashford doubling the Reds' lead six minutes later.

Victory over Newcastle ended United's six-year wait for a trophy, meaning they will have aspirations of building on their maiden success under manager Erik ten Hag before the end of the season. The Reds are still fighting in two more cup competitions and are currently third in the Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Arsenal.

Although United's title prospects are not dead in the water just yet, Casemiro, who has been a revelation this term, believes he and his teammates have to continue improving in their attempts to make the Reds the dominant force in English football once again.

"We're growing and gaining respect in this country," said Casemiro, as quoted by United's club website. "But it's early days and we have to keep improving. We can't hide there are teams ahead of us like Manchester City and Arsenal.

"We have to deal with this reality, but we're understanding our manager's philosophy and we will keep growing. My history has always been about winning since I was a kid, so here it isn't any different. I'm here to help my team-mates and Manchester United."
