Police launch murder investigation after woman found dead - updates from crime scene
A murder investigation has been launched after a woman was found dead in north Manchester.
Police are in attendance on Queens Road this morning (April 8) after a 51-year-old woman was found dead inside a property.
Officers were initially called out at 4.07am on Monday.
Greater Manchester Police has since launched a murder investigation following the woman's death.
Following initial enquiries at the scene, a 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
He remains in police custody for questioning this morning (Tuesday).
A scene remains in place whilst investigators conduct their enquiries.
Detective Inspector Emma Hulston, of GMP's major incident team, said: "The thoughts of the entire investigation team remain with the victim’s family at this time.
"We are committed to getting answers for them and establishing what occurred.
“We understand this investigation will raise concerns in the local community, but I would like to reassure the public that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.
“Officers will be conducting their enquiries at the address so you will see more officers out in the local area.
"We have a number of additional resources dedicated to this investigation.”
