Police issue update as boy, 4, seriously injured in hospital after being hit by car

A four-year-old boy remains in hospital with a serious head injury after being hit by a car in Salford.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the smash on Liverpool Road in Eccles at around 3.30pm yesterday (Tuesday). According to horrified onlookers, the boy reportedly got caught underneath the car after it hit him.

Police have confirmed this morning that he remains in hospital in a stable condition. His head injury is serious but not life-threatening.

An air ambulance also landed at the scene, though the boy was rushed to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital by road.

Officers are now urging anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward. They particularly want to speak to anyone who might have dash cam footage of the incident.
