Police issue update after armed police arrest man with 'gun'

A man arrested by armed cops after allegedly being spotted with a 'gun' in a village in Stockport has been released on police bail, a spokesperson for the force confirmed.

Armed police were scrambled to Romiley centre, near the train station, at around 9pm on Wednesday night (November 15) following reports of a man with a gun. The man was detained on the scene.

The gun was later found to be fake, though Greater Manchester Police said they will 'always act on reports of this nature'. The man was arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and taken into custody for questioning.
