Police issue CCTV image of man they wish to speak to after two rail staff punched

A man punched two members of rail staff in an aggressive rage after missing his connecting train at Manchester Oxford Road station. The incident, which was reported earlier this month, is now being investigated by police.

British Transport Police have since released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to in relation to the incident as they continue to investigate. The altercation broke out at around 7pm on May 18, 2022.

A man had become 'aggressive' towards a member of rail staff after he missed his connecting train. When a colleague approached to intervene, the man punched him on the head.

As he made off from the station, police said he went on to punch another member of rail staff who tried to stop him from leaving.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "Officers investigating an assault at Manchester Oxford Road station are today releasing this CCTV image in connection. At just after 7pm on 18 May, a man missed his connecting train at the station and became aggressive towards a member of rail staff.

"A second member of staff approached to intervene, and the man punched him on the head. As he was fleeing the station he punched another member of rail staff who tried to stop him doing so.

"Officers believe the man in the CCTV image may have information which could help their investigation."
