Police arrest wanted man after sealing off a street in Cardiff for several hours
A street near Cardiff city centre was blocked for several hours on Saturday afternoon following reports a wanted man was sighted. Moira Place and Meteor Street in Adamsdown were closed while the National Police Air Service helped police on the ground.
There were around ten police vehicles at the scene along with firefighters and paramedics after reports of a man on the roof of a house. South Wales Police said they received a report around 12.45pm on Saturday (April 29) that a wanted man had been sighted.
An earlier statement from the force said said: "Officers are currently at the scene along with the National Police Air Service and a specialist police negotiator in a bid to arrest him." It added: "The incident is contained, however, due to the presence of emergency services at the scene. We advise motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible whilst the incident is ongoing."
The incident ended at around 8pm. Officers have since confirmed that a man was arrested. A police spokesman said: "Following a report we received around 12.45pm this afternoon that a wanted man had been sighted on Moira Street, Adamsdown, Cardiff, we can confirm that he has been arrested on recall to prison. The roads around the area have now reopened and we would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding whilst the incident was ongoing."
