Plummer remains integral part of Netball SA's plans, despite World Cup swansong
Netball SA president Cecilia Molokwane has faith that Norma Plummer's experience will benefit the Proteas ahead of the Netball World Cup.
The World Cup takes place on African soil for the first time, from 28 July to 6 August, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).
Hosts South Africa are in Pool C alongside Jamaica, Wales and Sri Lanka, with their opening encounter against the Welsh on 28 July.
New Zealand will be defending their World Cup title as South Africa look to reach the podium for the first time since 1995.
Last year, Plummer was brought in for her second stint as head coach, having previously held the position from 2016 to 2019.
After Plummer's return, the Proteas clinched the Diamond Challenge at the Tuks Sports Centre and then finished fourth in January's Quad Series.
"Norma was always in the background," Molokwane told reporters in Cape Town on Wednesday.
"(She) never left the team, by the way, we always put her as the advisory coach.
"We had just to bring her forward and say, 'take the team. The girls know you, you know them'. Let's not take a stranger, because we could've simply done that."

Plummer will leave her position as head coach after the World Cup, where the Proteas are looking to reach the elusive podium in Cape Town.
Molokwane admitted that Plummer is not part of their future plans, but she will be on hand when the transition occurs.
"No, she cannot be the future. We're still struggling into who we can put there," said Molokwane.
"But we will keep her to make sure that she gives somebody the baton - and not one because we have struggled.
