Plenty of goals in the Southern Counties East Premier Division as Erith Town, Glebe and Sutton Athletic earn victories

There were plenty of goals in the Southern Counties East Premier Division matches which were played on Saturday.

While Whitstable, Faversham and Kennington were getting knocked out of the FA Cup, the six league fixtures to take place involved 29 goals in total.

Louis Lovell’s hat-trick guided Sutton Athletic to a 6-2 victory at Welling Town.

Jack Kirby, George Sibley and Jacob Kalonda netted, too, while efforts for the hosts by Tom Samwell and Vinnie Medhurst proved in vain.

Tunbridge Wells struck early and late during their 3-3 home draw with Stansfeld.

Despite Trevor McCreadie firing Wells ahead in the first minute, they found themselves 3-1 down, only for second-half strikes by Tommy Smith and Billy Lewins, in the 87th minute, to salvage a point.

Remarkably, there were four penalties converted in VCD’s 2-2 draw at Holmesdale.

Sam Bayford scored both for the hosts while Jeff Duah-Kessie and then Lekan Osideko were on target from 12 yards for the Vickers.

A second-half Harry Taylor penalty proved the difference between Erith Town and Punjab United.

It was 1-1 at the interval, goals from frontmen Paul Vines and Henry Arnold cancelling each other out, when Taylor converted from the spot - having won the penalty himself.

Corinthian went down 3-1 at Glebe, who had Jamie Philpot, Marcel McDonald and Malachi Morris on the scoresheet. Charlie Clover got Corinthian’s solitary strike.

It was the same scoreline as Fisher beat Rusthall.

Callum Taylor appeared to have got Rusthall back into it midway through the second period after first-half goals from Andres Tobon and Charles Yiadom-Konadu, in a half when Rusthall’s Jonathan Sanchez was sent off, only for Billy Brown to wrap things up in the 81st minute.
