Player-coach Reda Johnson one of eight Dover Athletic have announced have been released following the end of the 2021/22 season

Player-coach Reda Johnson tops the list of players set to leave Dover this summer.

The ex-Sheffield Wednesday defender, 34, joined the Crabble-based club last year but struggled for fitness as Andy Hessenthaler’s Whites finished bottom of the National League and were relegated with a single point on the board.

Midfielders Koby Arthur, TJ Bramble, Marshall Wratten, James Caton and Travis Gregory have left the club.

Experienced full-back Seth Twumasi has departed too, as has goalkeeper Josh Bexon, although there is no mention of fellow keeper Alexis Andre Jr on the club’s retained and released list which was released on Wednesday.

In a brief statement, a club spokesman said: "The club would like to thank all departing players for their efforts during their time with us and we wish them every success in the future."

Defenders Jake Goodman - named supporters' player-of-the-year - and Danny Collinge are out-of-contract but have been offered new deals at Dover.

Remaining under contract with the club are Ryan Hanson, Luke Baptiste, Will Moses and George Wilkinson, while George Nikaj and Harrison Byford became the latest youngsters to sign professional terms with the club on Monday.

Goalkeeper Adam Parkes (Watford), defender Harry Ransom (Crawley), midfielder Henry Woods (Gillingham) and frontman Michael Gyasi (King’s Lynn) have ended their loan spells with Dover and returned to their parent clubs.

Bramble and right-back Myles Judd have been offered the opportunity to attend pre-season ahead of the club's 2022/23 campaign to prove their fitness.
