Plan to splash Miovski cash, Thelin's recruitment strategy, 2 signings cleared for debuts - Aberdeen transfer state of play

Jimmy Thelin has insisted Aberdeen won’t be rushed into the transfer market despite netting a club record fee from Bojan Miovski’s sale.

The Dons are still working on a couple of key positions and have added financial muscle after Miovski’s close to £7 million move to Girona. Thelin believes he is building a team that can score goals from multiple avenues rather than being over dependent on one player. Aberdeen have already made a big-money investment in buying Topi Keskinen from HJK for £860,000.

Thelin said: “It is a discussion we have with Dave (Cormack) the chairman, Alan (Burrows), Steven (Gunn) and myself. It is more longer term and not rushing away now. And try to have some trust in the players we have already. Every game we have played so far we have had different scorers who scored from different areas of the pitch. So we are trying to build something where we can score team goals and not just through one player.

“That is important for us and then let’s see what is happening in the window. The window is still open and if we feel we need to do something then we will maybe do something.”

Thelin reckons Bojan Miovski’s success will make Aberdeen more appealing for future stars to come in, develop and sell-on. He follows in the footsteps of Lewis Ferguson and Ylber Ramadani who moved to Italy and Calvin Ramsay who is now at Liverpool.

The Aberdeen boss admitted: “How the club works with bringing Bojan in and how he grew as a player here, he had the support of the people here at Aberdeen. It is an amazing job they have done and a good journey Bojan is making right now.

“It was a good ending and he was professional all the time he was here. Always giving his all in the training sessions and full concentration with all
