Getafe drop subtle Mason Greenwood transfer hint after Manchester United return

Getafe have hinted they may look to sign Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood again this summer after his loan spell at the club ended.

Greenwood has been on loan in Spain since deadline day last August. He was suspended by United in January 2022 amid allegations of attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.

A lengthy investigation into the case then followed, with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) dropping all charges against Greenwood in February 2023. A United statement at the time read: "Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped. The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete."

After moving to the Spanish club, Greenwood made 36 appearances for the side scoring ten goals in the process. Following Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Mallorca, the 22-year-old confirmed he would be returning to United.

Posting on Instagram, Greenwood wrote: "Incredibly grateful to the Getafe family and fans for an amazing season. Thank you for making me feel welcomed and one of your own.

"I enjoyed every second, alongside my teammates and club. A bittersweet ending, but it was a pleasure to play for you, I wish you all the best."

MEN Sport understands United are planning to sell Greenwood in the summer and one of the teams who look set to battle for the winger is Getafe. Posting on Monday morning, the La Liga club shared a picture of the Reds' forward waving to the fans with the caption: "See you soon, Blues."
