Philippe Clement revels in Rangers disappointment from within as boss LOVES reaction to setback

Philippe Clement has told his Rangers players to use their disappointment at squandering the chance to close the gap on Celtic to fuel their festive run.

The Light blues failed to make their dominance count in a pulsating Pittodrie clash as they paid the price for a slow start during which Bojan Miovski fired the Reds in front. Rangers struck the woodwork twice as they chased a leveller with Tom Lawrence crashing a volley off the crossbar and Leon Balogun the same with a header.

But the pressure finally paid off in the dying minutes when Nick Walsh awarded Rangers a penalty following a VAR spot of a shirt pull on Connor Goldson and skipper James Tavernier stepped up to convert and ensure the Ibrox side went home with a point. Rangers face a busy spell with Europa League, Premiership fixtures and a Viaplay Cup final to contest. And Clement says there was major disappointment at failing to get the victory after Celtic drew at home to Motherwell 24 hours earlier.

The Belgian, who preserved his unbeaten start as Rangers boss thanks to the draw, told Sky Sports: “I saw disappointment after the game but that’s good and for the next couple of weeks also to raise our standards but I can’t ask for much more than what they did after conceding. The most important thing for me is that my players keep repeating and keep going, without stopping and without disappointment during the game.

“It should have been three points. We weren’t sharp enough at the start and lost too many duels and conceded a goal which wasn’t well defended by us. But after that we had total domination of the game and had a lot of chances and hit the crossbar twice.
