Phil Hay shares hilarious five-word reaction to Leeds United's last-gasp win over Norwich

It was a day full of drama at Elland Road as Leeds United eventually secured a vital three points in their quest to keep Premier League football at the ground next season.

Rodrigo gave the hosts the lead early on in the tie via a deflected shot. It was then goalless until stoppage time…  Kenny McLean equalised for Norwich and looked to have secured an unlikely, but much needed point for the Canaries.

But then up stepped Joe Gelhardt in the nick of time, having only just been introduced to the game minutes before.

The Athletic’s Leeds United correspondent Phil Hay shared a comedic response in reaction to that dramatic ending: “I’m too old for this.”

If he’s struggling now it could be a tense end to the season for the reporter as Leeds are still well and truly embroiled in a relegation battle.

Leeds sit in 16th in the table as things stand, with Everton in 17th on goal difference, who have a good chance to leapfrog the Whites with their three games in hand. The cushion to the drop zone for Leeds now sits at four points. It’s still far from ideal, but it looks much better than it did a week ago.
