Phil Foden breaks Man City silence after Ipswich injury fear with three-word message

Phil Foden has congratulated his Manchester City teammates after they came from behind to beat Ipswich Town 4-1 on Saturday, moving to the top of the Premier League once more. The victory makes it two wins from two for Pep Guardiola's side, both without Foden starting.

The newly crowned PFA Player of the Year was left on the bench last weekend against Chelsea after a disrupted pre-season that was heavily impacted by England's progress to the final of Euro 2024 before missing the first home game of the campaign due to illness. His absence initially caused quite a stir with fears over a possible injury.

City confirmed that Foden's absence was not down a niggle pre-match, allaying concern over yet another serious blow for the champions. With Rodri and Oscar Bobb already missing, and Mateo Kovacic being forced off after half-time, it has been a tough start on the fitness front.

Foden, though, will hope to be ready to go again for City when they travel to West Ham on Saturday. The 24-year-old was forced to watch on away from the Etihad Stadium after being ruled out, but didn't let that stop his support.

Writing on Instagram after the game, Foden reposted City's full-time image onto his story. "Go on lads [bicep emoji]", he added.
