Phil Bennett funeral: Latest updates, pictures and tributes as Wales rugby legend laid to rest
Wales rugby legend Phil Bennett will be laid to rest today as thousands attend a memorial service in his honour.
Current and former players, as well as rugby fans from far and wide, will be at Parc y Scarlets for a public tribute in Bennett's honour. The gates open at 9.30am ahead of the 11am service. Those attending have been asked to wear rugby jerseys of their choice to "honour Phil's incredible legacy".
Bennett died just under a fortnight ago after a long battle with cancer.
'Benny', as he was so affectionately known, was one of the most recognisable and celebrated figures in Welsh rugby history. He won 29 caps for Wales from 1969 to 1978, played for Llanelli 413 times and starred for the Lions on two tours, to South Africa in 1974 and New Zealand three years later.
The public memorial will be followed by a church service in his home village of Felinfoel. You can follow the events of the day with our live updates below as we say farewell to a Welsh hero.
You can leave your tributes to Benny in the comments section below that will be passed on to the club and family.
