Petrol station terror as white van man 'chases car armed with HEDGE TRIMMER'

Disturbing footage appears to show a man chasing a car with a hedge trimmer at a petrol station in Salford.

Footage of the terrifying incident, shared initially on Instagram, was filmed at the Shell garage on Regent Road on Monday (August 5). It appears to show a hooded male run out of the petrol station to a vehicle.

He then returns, running in the opposite direction, branding the sharp electronic instrument. The violent scenes unfolded sometime on Monday afternoon. Further details about the incident have not yet been confirmed by police.

In the terrifying clip, a passenger in the car is filming the man, who charges towards the vehicle armed with the trimmer. The driver speeds away out of the forecourt, and back onto Regent Road.

The man is then seen throwing his arm in the air, holding the trimmer in his other hand, as the car drives off in the direction of the M602. On Tuesday evening (August 6), an unmarked police car was seen parked up at the petrol station, with officers reviewing the premises' CCTV footage.

The social media clip was viewed 1.5 million times within a number of hours, with over 1,900 comments. One viewer said: "Horrendous, inhumane behaviour" as another said: "Daylight, in a petrol station. Hope this got reported."

Greater Manchester Police have not yet commented on the incident, but have been approached by the Manchester Evening News.
