Peterborough United 1-0 Cardiff City: Sluggish Bluebirds slip out of FA Cup

Cardiff City have fallen at the first hurdle in the FA Cup, after going down to Peterborough United at London Road.

Harry Leonard's first-half strike proved enough to give the hosts what was, in the end, a largely deserved victory in East Anglia,

Cardiff had chances to level, but were largely ineffective in the final third in an outing that will have frustrated boss Brian Barry-Murphy.

There was a somewhat familiar face in the home dugout, with former Swansea City boss Luke Williams overseeing his first game as Peterborough boss since replacing Darren Ferguson earlier this week.

Williams enjoyed a somewhat mixed record against City in the past, overseeing a win, a draw and a defeat in his three south Wales derbies outings as Swans boss.

Unfortunately for City, his reign at London Road got off to a vibrant start, as the hosts raced out the traps from the off in this cup tie.
