Peter Schmeichel, Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry predict Champions League winner as Chelsea, Liverpool and Man City battle Europe’s elite

Peter Schmeichel, Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry have predicted who will win the Champions League as Premier League giants Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City battle Europe’s elite for the trophy.

Holders Chelsea welcome 13-time winners Real Madrid to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night for the first leg of their quarter-final tie.

Prolific winners Bayern Munich are also in action this evening, visiting Spanish side Villarreal as they look to take a big step to reaching the Champions League semi-finals.

Last night, 2019 champions Liverpool beat Benfica 3-1 in Lisbon to ensure they will take a two-goal lead back to Anfield for the second leg against the Portuguese side.

Manchester City, yet to lift the Champions League despite their dominance in England, were also victorious in their clash with La Liga champions Atletico Madrid at the Etihad.

But who will be crowned champions of Europe come May 28? Manchester United legend Schmeichel, former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher and Arsenal hero Thierry Henry have made their predictions for CBS Sports.

Schmeichel, who tipped Bayern Munich to lift the trophy, said: ‘There is too much going on between Liverpool and Man City. Too much pressure.

‘Real Madrid and Bayern are so far ahead in their leagues, they can rest players, they can prepare for this. Man City and Liverpool can’t.’
