Peter Reid makes 'sensational' new Everton stadium claim after Bramley-Moore tour

Former Everton midfielder Peter Reid has said the new Bramley-Moore stadium is coming along nicely, saying fans will 'love it.'

The Merseyside club have been at their current stadium Goodison Park since 1982 and will be moving to their new home for the 2024-2025 season. Several key milestones have already been passed in the construction of the planned 52,888 seater stadium.

Reid and ex-winger Kevin Sheedy were given a behind-the-scenes tour by club management as work steps up on the site. Building started in June last year but in recent weeks and months, walls and more of the structure has started to be built and the former England under-21 boss said he 'can't wait' to see the stadium finished in a few years.

“It’s sensational now, never mind when it’s done, and I can’t believe how big it is,” Reid was quoted by the club’s official website.

“Goodison Park has been a great stadium for Everton for more than 100 years, but the old lady isn’t getting any younger and I just can’t wait for this to be finished because it’s magnificent. It’s going to be a great Premier League stadium and the supporters will absolutely love it.”

Sheedy also highlighted just how far development has come since he last saw the site, pointing out that 'it's what we've always wanted' as the club embark on an exciting future.

“It’s a pleasure to be here and it’s looking really, really well," said Sheedy. "The previous time I came down to the site, we were still draining the dock.

“Back then, it was very hard to put into perspective what was going to happen, but now we have the four corners up and it is really starting to take shape. The fact the roof will be nearly twice the height of the concrete structure gives you an idea of the enormity and I just
