Peter Leven set for Aberdeen appointment as Barry Robson beefs up backroom team

Aberdeen boss Barry Robson is set to add Peter Leven to his backroom staff.

Robson wants to bring in the highly-respected coach to replace Liam Fox, who stepped down for family reasons at the end of the season. Leven has a wealth of experience as assistant manager at Kilmarnock, Dynamo Brest and Orenburg. The 39-year-old was No. 2 to Lee McCulloch at Kilmarnock and had success in Belarus when he worked under Marcel Licka, as Brest qualified for the Champions League. Leven last has a spell in Russia, under Licka again, where Orenburg won promotion to their top-flight. He has also had a stint at the Middlesbrough youth academy.

Leven would come in and assist Robson and Steve Agnew, replacing Fox who has now returned to Hearts as their B team head coach. Leven has also had a decent playing career in his time at Kilmarnock and down south at Chesterfield, MK Dons and Oxford United. Aberdeen returned for pre-season yesterday, with several new signings amongst their ranks.

The Dons completed deals for captain Graeme Shinnie and Rhys Williams, having previously landed Leighton Clarkson, Nicky Devlin and Ester Sokler. Aberdeen are set to head for their pre-season camp in Portugal at the end of the week.
