Peter Crouch joins Kasabian on stage at Isle of Wight Festival in special guest appearance

Music fans at the Isle of Wight Festival were given a surprise when former England international striker Peter Crouch joined Kasabian on stage.

The 41-year-old is friends with Kasabian frontman Serge Pizzorno, and joined the Leicester-based band as they performed the song ' Fire '. Pizzorno himself is a big football fan, and has appeared in Soccer Aid matches in the past.

Crouch, who retired from professional football in 2019, was known for his dance moves during his time playing in the Premier League and for the England national team. And he broke out some of those moves on stage on the Isle of Wight as Kasabian headlined the penultimate day of the festival.

"Well that escalated," Crouch said on Twitter while sharing a video of the cameo. He also gave thanks to Kasabian for inviting him up on stage, and to the festival itself.

Several Twitter users compared Crouch to Bez from the Happy Mondays after watching his antics. Another said "Peter Crouch showing up on stage with Kasabian for Fire is everything I needed to see today".

There was disappointment from some that the ex-pro didn't break out the robot, though. However, Crouch was willing to forego the trademark celebration from his playing days.

It was by no means the first time Crouch has been spotted getting involved during a Kasabian set. Indeed, it wasn't even the first time he has seen them play on the Isle of Wight.

Back in 2017, the then-Stoke frontman left the VIP area to join the masses during a show at the Kentish Town Forum in London. And in 2018, shortly after the Potters' relegation from the Premier League, he was spotted in the pit as the Leicester band played in front of thousands at that year's Isle of Wight Festival.
