Pep Guardiola warns Man City players after Premier League celebrations

Pep Guardiola does not expect to see lower standards from Manchester City players for the rest of the Premier League season.

City were crowned champions with three games to spare after Arsenal lost at home to Brighton and then away at Nottingham Forest, making Sunday's match against Chelsea a coronation day for the players and fans to enjoy. After celebrating inside the stadium with friends and families, the party then moved to a venue in Manchester city centre.

Guardiola accepts that there will be a drop in energy as the team recovers from the physical and mental efforts put into chasing Arsenal down in the Premier League and setting up a potential Treble. However, the manager does not want to see much different against Brighton and Brentford in the final week of the league campaign despite the fact they have already clinched the title.

"I think the best way to prepare the finals is to be ready," he said.

"We will have days off and relaxed training sessions but these players have set standards and we have to maintain it. It's normal to drop because we have played for the Premier League being behind Arsenal, and with the Champions League away in Munich and with Madrid the energy we spent was massive.

"It's normal to drop once you lift the trophy but we can't drop much."
