Pep Guardiola sends message to Jack Grealish after Man City test

Pep Guardiola has no doubts over the quality of Jack Grealish but warned that Manchester City cannot wait for him to rediscover his form.

Grealish was integral for the second half of last season and started both finals as the Blues won the Treble with the former Aston Villa man patrolling and controlling the left flank. However, he has struggled to show that same form this season and summer signing Jeremy Doku has emerged as an exciting alternative offering very different skills.

Guardiola still has a place for Grealish given what he knows he can bring, and there is an acknowledgment that the England star has suffered with injury this season. He recently admitted a dead leg he suffered in the win over Sheffield United was one of the worst injuries he has had.

"I don't have one doubt about Jack and his quality and what he has done for us since he arrived and especially last season," said Guardiola. "He started the season a bit late and after when he started he had a big impact against Sheffield United and then had one month off.

"His body needs rhythm because he's strong, he's not like Phil [Foden] or Bernardo [Silva] who only need two or three training sessions. We need him and he is incredibly focused to get back and he will be back.

"We are going to use him when we believe he is going to help us. Everybody knows he is in competition so he has to fight with his mates to fight against the opponent. It is strange, you are competitors and enemies during the week and then you have to be brothers.
