People forced to walk down the Big One as it stops mid-ride AGAIN for second time in weeks

Passengers at Blackpool Pleasure Beach had to walk down off a rollercoaster after stopped mid-ride for a second time in two weeks.

Visitors to the seaside resort reported The Big One, formerly known as the Pepsi Max Big One, stopped suddenly just after 3pm on Sunday afternoon (April 23). Those on the rollercoaster were seen having to walk down a huge flight of stairs to safely get off the ride.

Earlier this month, the iconic ride halted and stopped on the lift hill during a period of bad weather. At the time, on April 11, staff members asked passengers on the ride to walk all the way back down to the ground while being guided with the ride having to remain closed for the rest of the day.

A spokesperson for Blackpool Pleasure Beach confirmed the Big One was still shut just before 4pm today, but was unable to provide any details on how long it may be closed for.

Cammy, who asked to just be referred to by his first name, had just finished visiting the theme park when he noticed the ride had been stopped.

“It was only just after 3pm that we saw it had stuck,” he told the M.E.N. “It was one carriage on the tracks and we could see people walking down off the ride.”

“We’ve already been to the Pleasure Beach, thankfully. My partner and her little sister went on the Big One earlier in the day.”

Others reached out to the M.E.N to share news of the ride’s closure. Pepsi Max broke down again," Lacey Cooke said, whilst Dav Cooke messaged to say they saw the ride stop midway through.

The M.E.N has reached out to Blackpool Pleasure Beach for further information.
