Ole Gunnar Solskjaer returns to Man United for first time since sacking for Wolves fixture

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer returned to Old Trafford for the first time since being sacked in November 2021 ahead of Manchester United's Premier League clash with Wolves at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The Norwegian, who spent just under three years in charge, was spotted posing for pictures and signing autographs for supporters in front of the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand ahead of kick-off. Despite the disappointing ending to his tenure as manager, the former striker remains a hugely popular character in M16 following the success of his playing days.

Now living back in his native Norway, Solskjaer was a surprise guest for the clash with Julen Lopetegui's side. He was also captured by the MUTV cameras having a catch-up with fellow former United players Danny Simpson and Dion Dublin, hugging the pair of them.

The 50-year-old, who spent 11 years at United as a player, has not returned to management since being axed by the Reds in the first half of the 2021/22 campaign. However, he has refused to close the door on a return to the dugout at some point in the future.

Speaking recently, he said: "It has to be something special, a new culture or a club that really excites me. Or maybe they will want me back at United in some capacity, who knows?"

Solskjaer, whose daughter, Karna, used to play for United Women, took charge of United 168 times during his spell in charge, including his initial caretaker spell at the helm. His last game in charge saw his side beaten 4-1 by Watford at Vicarage Road.
