A man has been charged with dangerous driving and drink driving after a car ploughed into a house on Friday night, leaving the home crumbling apart.

The crash caused "significant structural damage" to a house on Peveril Drive, Hazel Grove, with eyewitnesses saying the front wall and windows were "collapsing". Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 4.40pm on Friday afternoon, August 12, where a man was arrested after police established a car had collided with a house.

Bystanders told the Manchester Evening News "the whole porch has gone", after the car smashed into the front wall of the home, leaving parts of the wall dangling precariously from the damage. Police, firefighters, and Electricity North West were all called to the scene, with the road taped off for hours as crews investigated and attempted to make the scene safe.
