Pearl Slattery rewarded for stellar showings with Shelbourne

Shelbourne captain Pearl Slattery has been rewarded for some stellar performances during the summer with the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division player of the month for July/August.

Shels are battling for the third league title in four season, after finishing second last year, with Slattery contributing five goals for the Tolka Park outfit, including back to back goals against DLR Waves and Cork in this period.

The Reds are currently in second place, two points off leaders Athlone Town, with a game more played than the midlands outfit, and five league fixtures to go.

It's the second time the charismatic skipper has landed the award bringing to a close a gap of seven years.

Slattery was selected ahead of Galway United attacker Julie-Ann Russell and Athlone Town forward Kerryanne Brown.
