Paul Scholes warns four Man United players about Ruben Amorim including Marcus Rashford
Paul Scholes believes that multiple Manchester United players might not fit into the preferred formation of incoming head coach Ruben Amorim.
Amorim, 39, consistently set up Sporting in a 3-4-3 system to great success and is expected to continue lining up this way at United. However, the need for wing-backs when playing that way has led to questions about who would play in those positions.
Scholes, 49, insists it depends on what Amorim will require from those occupying those roles. The former United midfielder has highlighted the balance between defence and attack as the area where wide players within the squad could struggle.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Scholes said: "There are three or four players, especially forward players, who don't want to do the ugly side of the game. [Amorim's] going to have to make them do that.
"We talk about the back three; we have six centre-halves they can choose from. [Amorim] has got the two central midfielders in Casemiro and [Manuel] Ugarte.
"It's the wing-backs that could be the problem. Does [Amorim] want wingers who are going to run back?
"If he wants that, I'm not sure [Marcus] Rashford and [Alejandro] Garnacho are right for that. Does he want two wing-backs in [Diogo] Dalot and [Noussair] Mazraoui, who might be a little bit better defensively but not as good going forward?
Also, according to Scholes, Kobbie Mainoo could play a more advanced role under Amorim. "He has then got his two No 10s. [Bruno] Fernandes is one of them, and I actually think Mainoo could be one of them too. I think he'll be a better player
