Paul Merson agrees with two pundits on Man City result vs Sheffield United

Manchester City are five points off Premier League leaders Liverpool, albeit with a game in hand.

The leaders take on Newcastle on Monday and anything less than a win coupled with a City triumph will see the margin shortened with Mohamed Salah set to exit in January for the Africa Cup of Nations.

City will be losing no players next month and will hope to capitalise. They will be favourites to beat Sheffield United on Saturday which would nicely cap off an historic year for the club. Paul Merson and two other pundits believe they will get the job done quite easily.

Paul Merson told Sportskeeda: "Manchester City win, period. It's only going to be a question of how many goals they score in front of their home fans and it could get ugly for Sheffield United as they are coming on the back of a shocking defeat to Luton Town at home. Two late own goals capped off a nightmare result for Chris Wilder's team, I think they'll get relegated.

"The champions got a great result against Everton as they came from behind to win 3-1. Arsenal and Liverpool would've licked their lips at halftime after watching them go 1-0 down, but City showed exactly why they've won so many league titles over the years."

Chris Sutton told BBC Sport: "Sheffield United are bottom of the table, but we've seen some improvement since Chris Wilder took charge at the start of December.

"I am not sure it will do them much good at Etihad Stadium, though. Manchester City became world champions over Christmas, but they had a decent festive period at home too, with their win at Everton plus teams above them
