Paul Ince claims Roy Keane has scuppered Man Utd's move for Erling Haaland

Manchester United have no chance of signing Erling Haaland because of Roy Keane’s infamous challenge on his father.

That’s according to former United midfielder Paul Ince, who believes the history between Haaland’s father and the club will see his son move elsewhere this summer.

Haaland is expected to leave Dortmund this summer, with every top club in Europe interested in signing the Norwegian after seeing him hit 80 goals in 79 games for the club.

Keane was famously sent off for a brutal challenge on Haaland’s father, Alf-Inge, in 2001 and the Irishman later admitted in his autobiography that he made the tackle on purpose to get back at the Norwegian for shouting at him when he tore his cruciate four years earlier.

And Ince believes there’s too much bad blood between the family and United for Haaland to join the Red Devils this summer.

United need a new striker. Haaland is a tricky one because of the situation with his dad and Keane at Old Trafford,’ said Ince.

‘I can’t see him going to Old Trafford just based on that, and if there’s no Champions League, he definitely won’t.’

United are expected to sign a striker this summer, as Edinson Cavani is set to leave after two years at the club.

The club will leave the decision to their new permanent manager, which is expected to be either Mauricio Pochettino or Erik Ten Hag.
