Manchester United 'target' £25m Erling Haaland alternative and other rumours

Manchester United are targeting a £25m move for Lyon forward Moussa Dembele, according to reports.

It has been claimed that United are looking to 'revitalise' their attack in the upcoming transfer window, highlighting the Frenchman as an option. Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has already claimed this season that an addition in the forward department is needed.

Marcus Rashford's future at Old Trafford appears uncertain after his recent stint out of the side, while there have even been rumours that Cristiano Ronaldo's return to the club could be cut short. Both Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani will be out of contract in the summer and don't look likely to extend their stay at the club.

The Daily Mail are reporting that United are exploring the possibility of a £25m move for former Celtic marksman Dembele. The Frenchman will enter the final year of his contract at the Ligue 1 outfit in the summer and Peter Bosz's side may look to cash in before his value plummets.

United's striker woes were evident in the defeat to Manchester City on Sunday as they were forced to field an XI without a recognised number nine. Dembele could play his way into discussions after scoring nine goals in 19 appearances this season, with five of those coming in his last seven outings.

Meanwhile, Paul Pogba's future continues to dominate the back pages as his exit from Old Trafford seems to edge ever closer. Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) has revealed that there are 'ongoing' negotiations between the World Cup winner and his former club Juventus.
